Ballistic Testing for Body Armor
At Hard Shell, our primary goal is to provide the best protection and ensure the safety of those who protect us. Every step used in our body armor production reflects our commitment to quality. The ballistic testing standard is one of the most important considerations to make while purchasing body armor. Hard Shell is the ideal destination to purchase premium body armor adhering to leading industry standards and rigorous testing procedures.
NIJ Standards Compliance
At the backbone of Hard Shell’s designing and production process of body armor is our commitment to meet the strict standards established by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). The gold standard for assessing body armor’s reliability and efficacy is the NIJ standard.
The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development and evaluation agency of the United States Department of Justice. NIJ supports the development of voluntary equipment performance standards, as well as conducting compliance testing. Through rigorous field & laboratory testing, we certify that our products offer protection as per standards set by the National Institute of Justice such as NIJ standard 0106.01 for helmets and NIJ standard 0101.06 for armor panels.
NIJ Standard 0101.07: Latest Standards Adoption
At Hard Shell, we rely on innovation to meet the changing demands of the industry. Our body armor needs to keep evolving with the changing nature of threats. We are dedicated to keeping up with the most recent developments in the sector, and this is evident by the fact that we are capable of supplying body armor as per the latest NIJ Standard 0101.07. This is made possible by using advanced materials and technology in our production process. We will continue to keep up with the latest standards and technology for providing enhanced personal protection.
The latest NIJ standard 0101.07 is a revision of NIJ Standard 0101.06. This standard will be primarily used by the NIJ Compliance Testing Programme (CTP) for certification, assessment, and testing of ballistic-resistant body armor. Ballistic testing laboratories and body armor suppliers participating in the NIJ CTP will also use it.
NIJ Standard 0101.07, which is divided into 14 sections and 8 appendices, is significantly different from NIJ Standard 0101.06. Some of the important differences are notable structural variations and the introduction of various enhancements to test methods and laboratory practices. To improve testing procedures, NIJ Standard 0101.07, in contrast to previous versions of the NIJ Standard, refers to a suite of standardized laboratory procedures and test methods that ASTM publishes.
Quality Assurance Through Rigorous Testing
Quality and safety are non-negotiable at Hard Shell. Hardshell’s products undergo rigorous testing in internationally accredited laboratories, such as NTS Chesapeake, ensuring they meet the highest quality and safety standards. These tests evaluate the performance, durability, and reliability of our products, subjecting our body armor to meticulous testing procedures.
NTS Chesapeake specializes in providing ballistic experimentation and non-destructive testing services and offers comprehensive firearm and protective body armor testing. Their advanced facilities such as indoor ballistic ranges and non-destructive testing labs are equipped to provide body armor testing required by manufacturers to meet the strictest regulatory requirements of their business sectors.
